Fishing

Tennessee has an incredibly diverse fish population. There are over 300 species of fish, 280 of which are native to the state. There are thousands of lakes/ponds and miles of streams to fish all over the state; even with the ever-changing weather, there’s always somewhere to fish!

1Things to Know
  1. Free Fishing Day is always the Saturday of the first full week in June. Anyone can fish for free without a license in any of Tennessee’s public waters, agency and operated lakes, and any of Tennessee’s State Parks.
  2. Free Fishing Week follows Free Fishing Day! Children ages 15 and younger can fish for free in all of the aforementioned waterways!
  3. Children under 12 must wear a life jacket except when a boat is anchored, moored, or aground.
